For authors

1. Language of publication (article, review, book note, discussion note): Polish or English; in justified cases, the Editorial Board may agree to another language.

Authors of proposed publications shall ensure that their texts are linguistically and grammatically correct and accurate, and this requirement applies in particular to foreign-language texts, whose linguistic and grammatical quality should be checked by a competent person before submission to the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board does not provide comprehensive editing of texts in languages other than Polish.

2. Publications in English: the following rules apply

3. Publication length:

• article – maximum 1 publishing sheet (40,000 characters with spaces), minimum 1/2 publishing sheet;

• book review – maximum 1/2 publishing sheet;

• discussion note: maximum 1/4 publishing sheet;

• book note – maximum 1/8 publishing sheet;

• in exceptional cases, the Editorial Board may deviate from the minimum and maximum number of pages.

4. Articles in Polish (and languages other than English): must have the title translated into English, placed below the original title.

5. Keywords and abstract (in Polish and English), which we prepare exclusively for the article: placed directly after the title section.

6. Bibliography: placed at the end of the article; entries should be arranged alphabetically: first surname, then initial of first name (note: in bibliographic addresses of books included in the bibliography – unlike in footnotes – the name of the publisher should also be provided).

7. Author's biography: maximum 1,200 characters with spaces, placed after the bibliography.

8. Word processor: Microsoft Word: font type: Times New Roman; font size: in the body of the article – 12, in footnotes – 10; line spacing: in the body – 1.5, in footnotes – 1; margins: all 2.5 cm

9. Quotations: both Polish and foreign language quotations should be written in normal font (not italics) between quotation marks.

10. Omissions in quotations should be marked with the symbol: […]

11. Journal titles: should be written in normal font between quotation marks.

12. Subheadings: it is advisable to include subheadings in proposed articles and longer reviews, which should be centered.

13. Italics – without quotation marks – are used for:

•all original titles (of books, chapters, documents, images, performances, films, musical works, etc.), with the exception of journal titles;

•single words and short phrases in foreign languages.

14. Words or short phrases are highlighted by underlining them.

15. Abbreviations in Polish publications: Polish abbreviations are used, e.g.:

  • s. (strona),

  • dz. cyt. (dzieło cytowane),

  • art. cyt. (artykuł cytowany),

  • tenże lub – gdy autorka to kobieta – taż albo taże,

  • tamże,

  • zob. (zobacz),

  • por. (porównaj),

  • red. (redakcja),

  • t. (tom) – numer kolejnego tomu książki – cyfra rzymska; numer kolejnego roku ukazywania się czasopisma – cyfra arabska,

  • cyt. za. (cytowane za),

  • przeł. (przełożyła/przełożył).
